My name is Shira Burns! I am so excited to be your child’s 4th-grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year! While this will be my second year teaching at F.Ave, I’ve been teaching for a total of 9 years. Prior to F.Ave, I taught 4th grade at a charter school in APS and 2nd grade at Westchester and Clairemont Elementary here in CSD.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University and received my Master of Science Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, crafting, and giving back to the community through volunteering.  It is my goal to create a space where children feel supported, confident in their abilities, and eager to learn. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!
