In this unit, teachers and students will begin to build relationships within their classroom and school community and explore shared language and habits of the classroom and FAVE’s school culture. There will be shared texts and conversations about what individuals and the collective group needs in order to best engage and form relationships within the classroom community. 3rd grade learning communities will be introduced and engage in experiences to explore the  IB Learner Profile Attributes. The  learning communities will establish essential agreements around individual and classroom responsibilities in order to support their learning. In addition, learners will use the shared language of the learner profile attributes to explore ways they can be responsible for their learning in their classroom and school culture. Finally, learners will learn to write constructed responses, reflections and ask questions throughout the learning process. The overall focus will be for the 3rd graders to have shared language and habits as readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists.
