Decatur High School has two competitive robotics teams. Decatur Robotics Team 4026 competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and is equivalent to a varsity-level team sport. Decatur Robotics Team 4232 competes in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and is equivalent to a junior varsity team sport. Students in 9th-12th grades are eligible for both teams.
Decatur Robotics teams do much more than build robots and have something for everyone. Team members with varied backgrounds and experience work collectively to prepare for the competitive season. Team members take on roles such as designing, building, and programming the robot; organizing community outreach events, fundraising, managing social media and branding, and more.
With Decatur Robotics, every player can go pro, and we invite you to join us in this exciting sport. Students have called it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” No prior experience is necessary. We need curious minds, problem-solvers, team players, and above all, individuals who share our love for innovation and learning. FRC meets Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year; FTC meets Mondays and Wednesdays from September through February.
For more information about the teams, including the differences between the two teams, please email Ms. Pierce (dpierce@csdecatur.net) or visit www.decaturrobotics.org.
