Hello Oakhurst!

The 2024/25 school year marks the start of year 26 in education, and each year has brought its own set of adventures. I am thrilled to join the first grade team and to be back in the classroom! My husband and I moved to Georgia in 2007 and I joined the Best Little School in the World in 2008. I started at Oakhurst as a third grade teacher, and transitioned into the role of Instruction coach in 2017, and now back to the classroom.

Growing up in Maryland, I was never far from the water or mountains and it was from my experiences hiking, climbing, and paddling in the Chesapeake Bay that my love for the outdoors was born. After receiving my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in 1998, I taught in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, specializing in environmental science and literacy. I completed my Masters of Education in Reading Education at Mercer in 2017 and completed my Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University.

My husband and I have two children, ages 11 and 15, and two rescue pups who are 10 and almost 4 years old - we love exploring the outdoor opportunities and adventures around Georgia, and one day we may even get used to the Georgia summers.
