Meet Interim Principal Ms. Glenn
Alexis Glenn: Interim Principal
Ms. Glenn is a familiar face to our community, having previously served as Assistant Principal at BHMS from 2017 to 2022. Her extensive experience also includes serving as Director of Assessment and Accountability for all K-12 schools across CSD, and prior administrative positions at both middle and high school levels in Florida. Known for her dedication and strong relationships with students, staff, and families, she is a trusted and respected leader among all stakeholders. She is a Beacon of hope and light for all students and is deeply committed to the growth of staff and students.

Meet Sarah Coleman 6th Grade Assistant Principal
Ms. Coleman serves as a 6th Grade Assistant Principal with a heartfelt belief that every school should be a haven where students feel safe, supported, and have a strong sense of belonging. Having served in our building for many years, Ms. Coleman has worn a variety of hats, contributing significantly to our school community. She has been a cherished PE and yoga teacher and has also taken on key leadership roles in various school initiatives. Ms. Coleman is committed to working tirelessly to create a cohesive and supportive community for everyone at Beacon Hill, ensuring our students and staff can truly flourish. She's here to champion our school and help make it the very best it can be for our entire community.

Meet Maury Gusta 7th Grade Assistant Principal
Mr. Gusta is honored to serve as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at Beacon Hill Middle School. He believes that seventh grade is one of the most transformative years in a student's life—a time of remarkable growth, self-discovery, and transition. Mr. Gusta is passionate about supporting students during this pivotal stage and partnering with families and staff to ensure every learner thrives.
His journey in education began on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he taught elementary and sixth-grade ELA/Social Studies in the Moss Point and Pascagoula-Gautier School Districts. After three years, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, serving as both a classroom teacher and later a media specialist. He worked in Atlanta Public Schools before joining City Schools of Decatur, first at Clairemont Elementary as a media specialist and later as an assistant principal.Mr. Gusta transitioned to Beacon Hill Middle School in March of the 2024–2025 school year and is thrilled to begin his first full year at BHMS, marking his 18th year in education. Over the years, he has had the privilege of being nationally recognized on NBC’s TODAY Show and has led professional learning at both the school and district levels. These experiences, along with his deep commitment to students, guide his work every day.

Meet Ronald Johnson 8th Grade Assistant Principal
Mr. Johnson serves as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal. He joined our team in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success. Before coming to BHMS, Mr. Johnson served as an Assistant Principal at both Talley Street Upper Elementary and F.AVE Upper Elementary within the City Schools of Decatur. His educational journey also includes time as a teacher and administrator in DeKalb County Schools. Mr. Johnson is a firm believer in the potential of every single student. He is dedicated to supporting the academic, social and emotional growth of all students.

Meet Instructional Coach Dr. Julie McFaddin
Dr. McFaddin is the instructional coach/IB Coordinator for math, science, and connections teachers at Beacon Hill Middle School. She supports teachers with planning, assessment, and instructional strategies that enhance student learning. She is especially passionate about inquiry-based teaching that helps students make meaningful connections to the world and see themselves in the content. Student outcomes are the driving force behind all that she does. Since 2011, Dr. McFaddin has served in several roles across City Schools of Decatur—at F.AVE, Talley Street, the Wilson Center, and now, calls Beacon Hill home.

Meet Instructional Coach Angelina Prophet
Ms. Prophet is the instructional coach/IB Coordinator for Language Arts, Social Studies, and World Language. She brings a wealth of experience and leadership to our school community, and she truly enjoys working with students and teachers to develop inquiry-based learning across the curriculum. Ms. Prophet is deeply passionate about coaching teachers to effectively implement literacy strategies grounded in the science of reading and writing. Her goal is to boost student comprehension and engagement across all subjects. Ms. Prophet has held various positions at F.AVE and Beacon Hill since she started with the City Schools of Decatur in 2014.

Meet Instructional Technology Coach Robyn Tibbetts
Ms. Tibbetts is our dedicated Instructional Technology Coach and one of our Gifted Specialists. She has been a valued member of the BHMS team since 2001, serving in a variety of teaching and leadership roles throughout her tenure. She was recognized as CSD’s district Teacher of the Year in 2011. Ms. Tibbetts is passionate about supporting students as they navigate the ever-changing technology landscape, preparing them for the future. She deeply values collaborating with teachers to help adjust instructional practices that incorporate technology as a way to enhance learning, not replace it. Ms. Tibbetts truly enjoys working with students, seeing them learn and grow, and helping teachers use technology to implement differentiated instruction and boost overall learning.

Principal's Front Office Staff
Our front office staff plays a vital role in the smooth operation of Beacon Hill Middle School. Comprised of our Registrar, Bookkeeper, and Front Office Personnel, this team is a primary resource for a wide range of inquiries and support.- The Registrar is responsible for all student records, enrollment, transfers, and official documentation. They ensure accurate and up-to-date information is maintained for every student.
- The Bookkeeper manages the school's financial operations, including tuition, fees, vendor payments, and budgeting. They are dedicated to transparent and efficient financial practices.
- Our Front Office Personnel are the welcoming faces you'll encounter daily. They assist with general inquiries, direct visitors, manage communications, and provide essential administrative support to students, parents, and staff.
